We are happy to welcome Ihaia, Hahona and their whānau. A warm welcome to you all. Welcome to Te Arani We are very lucky to have a student teacher in TTRR for the next eight weeks. She will be working with the tamariki and the kaiako to develop her teaching and learning practices in a bilingual environment. Please feel free to introduce yourself and say kia ora. Whānau Hui This is on Tuesday 11 August at 5.30pm. Please bring a plate of kai to share. The kaupapa of this hui is Reporting and Assessment, this follows on from the Teaching and Learning focus in term one. Reports go live on Friday 14 August. Interviews the following week. Learning Foci - ‘Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu - adorn the bird with feathers so it may fly’ We are learning about the Cultural Narrative of Ōtautahi including building our knowledge on the mana whenua and understanding the meaning and stories behind Tūranga, Margaret Mahy and the Whāriki Manaaki. We are starting to plan some trips to support this learning. More details to come. In week nine we are having our annual Manu Kōrero. Children have begun extending and learning their pepeha off by heart. Please encourage your tamaiti with their practise. Kapa haka and Cultural Festival 2020 Cultural Festival was cancelled for the original dates but is happening in week three, term four. So our preparations have begun to create a performance. We appreciate your support of your child to practice the kupu, actions and soon the poi and haka. Porridge From Monday 3 to Thursday 6 August we are selling porridge in the mornings from 8.15 till 8.50am. We are raising money for trips around Christchurch and we would love to have some parent help. Please feel free to turn up when you can to help and/or share in kai. Cost is $4 with your own bowl and spoon or $4.50 to purchase a bowl and spoon. Sausage Sizzle This is starting again, every Friday the PTA runs a sausage sizzle. Orders are made through the Ezlunch system, the children then go and collect at the beginning of lunchtime. Sausages can be ordered in vegetarian and halal also. Scholastic Book Orders These were sent home this week, if you wish to order they need to be returned as soon as possible. School Closures On Thursday 20th August school will close at 2pm for our Getting Connected parent-teacher interviews. This early closure allows us the opportunity to provide adequate interview times to meet with all whānau. On Friday 18th September school will be closed to students for teacher only day. Teachers will be completing professional development programmes and developing programmes for students that focus on maximising their academic potential. Looking Ahead to 2021 Just a reminder that if you have a child (sibling of a current student) turning 5 in 2021, please complete an enrolment form as soon as possible. These are available via the school website. We continue to have a large number of tamariki on our TTRR waiting list, hence we need to plan accordingly. As always, we look forward to seeing you around school, at events and in the kāhui. Please contact us in person, via email or phone if you have any questions or concerns. Noho ora mai, Te tīma whānui o Te Tikanga Rua Re |
